MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
MESCA Membership is effective August through July. Check the mailing label of your newsletter. If you have not been receiving a newsletter chances are that you are not a current member. If you would like to become a member, complete and mail the application or contact the Membership Chair. Mesca Membership is $30 for a year. |
We are inviting you to consider joining or renewing your membership in our association. Several of you renewed during the summer months, so you might want to check your records.
For thirty dollars a year you will receive:
- 4 copies of our newsletter filled with exciting professional information about the state of school counseling in Maine.
- An opportunity to participate in Maine School Counselor Association activities.
- An opportunity to be involved in a network of school counselors.
- An opportunity to add your voice to the chorus of school counselors committed to school counseling K through 12.
Types of memberships:
Professional - Professional members must hold a Masters degree in counseling or a closely related field and must meet one or more of the following requirements: be certified as a school counselor by the State of Maine, or be employed as a counselor educator in a graduate program that prepares school counselors.
Emeritus - Emeritus membership may be conferred by a three-fourths vote of the governing board on any person who has been a professional member of the association for several years, who has made a significant contribution to school counseling in Maine, and who has resigned or retired from a professional position in Maine. Emeritus members shall enjoy the rights and privileges of professional members, but shall not be required to pay dues.
Student - Student members must be engaged in a planned program of counselor education designed to result in a degree which will make them eligible for a certificate as a Maine School Counselor. Membership dues are free!
Affiliate - Any person who subscribes to the purposes and ideals of the association and who wishes to support its goals, but is not eligible for any other type of membership may become an affiliate member.
